Your key to speed-learning words. See What's New in BETA 12! Flashwords is a program that uses special techniques to increase the quality and quantity of memorization. Besides the fact that it is *FUN*, here are some of the special techniques: (1) Rapid flash cards. Once you have a list of words, the computer shows the first word or phrase at the top of the screen in yellow. Yellow is a color that has been used by the advertising world for a long time to induce a rush or quick decision. (That's why some fast food places use yellow and red to hurry you out the door for the next customer). FlashWords uses yellow to make you come up with a decision more quickly. After a time you specify, the second word or phrase appears in green. Green has been used to induce a satisfactory, correct, 'go' feeling. Traffic lights and money are some examples of how we perceive green as a reward of some type. We are using common advertising techniques to learn! What a concept. Additionally, the wait time between words and sets decreases slowly so that without noticing, your flash cards get faster and faster. After a while, you are at your top learning speed. (You have complete control over the timing, from near zero seconds to 60 seconds between words) This continues throughout your list. When you feel comfortable with your words, you are ready for the second technique: (2) FlashTest. The computerized test will ask you, one by one, the words in your list. You have three tries to guess. FlashTest will tell you if you are incorrect, correct, or close. It 'sounds' the word(s)/answer(s) out phonetically to determine if you are close (it counts for a half a try). When complete, your list will have been 'marked' with those words you have missed. You may retest immediately the whole thing or the words you missed. Or, you may proceed to print it out to study: (3) Management. You can manage your list in numerous ways. Like a database, you may add, change, delete, print, filter, sort, and find items in your list. (Note: Filtering means you may 'group' sets of words together in the same file in order to only see, print, or test upon that set within the whole). FlashWords has been highly successful for post-grad interpretation/translation students studying over 1,000 new words a week!!! If it can perform wonders for that level of study, just imagine what it can do for 'normal' elementary, junior-high, high school, or college work! Well, you don't have to imagine anymore. You can *try* the software to see if it can help your study. Whether you are in school, in business, or just into learning, FlashWords trains your brain to learn better and faster using advertising and testing techniques.
