Jim Gale

I started out writing software for NASA satellite telemetry projects for JPL. I spent 18 years at Microsoft as a Principal Software Development Engineer, on Bing, MSN, IoT, Edge and AI, and I contributed to Microsoft Copilot in product, internal tools, and core prompting.

At Microsoft I led a small team that solved problems others had given up on, in one- or two-week engagements, and left each client owning the solution. That's still how I work.

Since 2013 I've run alerts.city, the page Duvall checks when the river rises or the roads close. I live here, and I'd rather help the business down the street than a slide deck.

Four issued patents. Two-time Microsoft Global Hackathon winner.
